Day 41: Our search for sun leads us to Mossman (12/07/12)

Having consulted the weather man, we thought our best bet to give Renske at least some of the warm tropical sunny experience, would be to cross Cairns and go north to have a look at the Daintree area. We decided to base in Mossman, at the caravan park there.
We packed in overcast but dry weather and drove north. Only about 15km north of Babinda the cloud broke and in another 10km or less we were looking at a completely blue sky!! Strange weather, ay?
We made our way up the coast, savouring the warmth of the sun.
Ahhh, but the girls had to soak up the sun on Ellis Beach!

Yes, they have got it out of their system, ready to resume our journey....

At Mossman, we set up camp and were in dire need of a swim by the time we were finished – it was that hot! Well, it was only 27 degrees, but the humidity was still very high, so a bit of exertion around the caravan and you would be dripping with sweat.
The enjoyment of sunshine etc. was marred somewhat by the discovery that one cannot pay for one’s Tasmanian driver’s licence renewal using the internet. Service Tasmania demands your personal appearance before it will renew your licence. Seeing that my licence was about to expire, I was in a bit of a fix.
However, with a bit of sweat and angst we filled in the forms for a Photo ID Kit and a Licence Renewal application, got some passport photos done, went to the Mossman Magistrate’s Court for a JP to verify my identity and cover the forms with official stamps (she said: the more the merrier!) and sent off the result to Hobart. After all that I was ordered by my female companions to forget all about it and enjoy the rest of my holiday.
All the cares of the day are set aside!
